Freedom Behind Bars: Mentors From Prison

This book is the follow-up to Voices from Prison.

Following are prisoner’s responses.

Mr. George:

“Vicktor Frankl made me remember my better self, who I was before I let the worst bits of my person derail my life. I’m much better than this. I can do something of lasting value for others and my personal redemption. It is a return to a place I wandered from. I lost my way somewhere down the road, took a detour, and am circling back.”

Mr. Thad:

“Solzhenitsyn had to deliberately let himself sink all the way down to rock bottom. Amazingly enough, the lesson here was that in doing so, he found solidity at rock bottom, the lowest point in his life. This screams out to me, ‘There is hope!

Mr. Crew

“Nelson Mandela’s Long Walk to Freedom made me feel so empowered. I was never taught how to be a man. I didn’t have a father growing up, and I’ve acted like a boy my whole life. I’ll use this time to define what a man is and acquire the values and traits men have. I’ve decided to use this prison experience as my rite of passage. Reading and studying autobiographies of great men is a good place to start. I love Mandela! I’ve had a confrontation with God. Prison is God’s hospital.”

The book is available from Amazon, $11.95.
