Participating inmates are asked to pay for the postage required to correspond with their tutor. The rest of the materials, such as books and course packets, are provided by the PrisonEd Foundation. PrisonEd is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization and all contributions are tax-deductible.

The average cost per student, per course at PrisonEd is $50.
